Comment: Hey Jeff,

I have always loved your musicianship, your warmth as a person. I often think of you and most days are reminded how talented you are, your very recognisable drumming style is still blasting out on radio ie Boz Scaggs, Christopher Cross, Toto, Madona, Michael Jackson, Dire Straights, Warren Zevon.. Legend

Comment: Happy Birthday Jeff. You will never be forgotten. The music that you helped inspire, the grooves so infectious, they linger on. For you, its as if the drumset is a canvas and with each stroke a masterpiece is created. Thanks for the inspiration.

Comment: I had the pleasure of playing with Jeff at Bill Schnee studios. Jeff was warming up and I remember how unique the sounds that he was producing with his drums were. I can't ever recall a drummer that wrote melody with his drums. Rosanna is a song that is most recognised at the begging where it is just Jake. I miss him so much and I know his brothers in the band do as well. We never know how a death of a friend will effect our lives and I know that it has not been easy for the boys but they are all doing well. Miss you Jeff and we all will see you again someday.

Comment: My first experience with Jeff was the Katy Lied album by Steely Dan. I was so amazed at Jeff's playing and sitting in with such a sophisticated band at such an early age. He set the stage for Steve Gadd and now the likes of Keith Carlock. I saw Toto at the Old Walddorff in San Fransisco back 1978 their first tour, they were so ahead of their time and absolutely blew everyone away. I was shocked and deeply saden by his passing away and I miss his creativity so much. The music world lost one of the greatest musicians that day, most people don't even understand it. Happy birthday Jeff, you are so loved and admired forever. Rock on Toto :)

Comment: Hey Jeff,

Yo! Happy Birthday! Please know that your spirit continues to thrive in the prayers, thoughts, gigs, sessions, set-ups, load-outs, drives, flights, day jobs, lessons, and any other kind of purpose-driven endeavor. So many grooves...dude, you absolutely owned them all! I wish I knew you in some capacity, instead of sending you this kind of message. But I needed to let you know that your drumming is still VITAL!! VITAL to so many of us. Peace, Jeff.

Comment: Such a legend...I heard "Rosanna" when I was 5 years old, and I LOVED that song, and every Toto song after that. I've been playing drums for over 23 years, and Jeff has been a huge influence in my playing since day one. I'm sure he's still jamming out up there somewhere with the likes of Hendrix, Dimebag, and all the other truly legendary musical geniuses!

Comment: Watching the instructional DVD he left behind. 'Corbit Van Brauer' still amazes me. The rack toms NEVER stop moving. "Creature Stomp" kicks butt and takes names. I found my fulcrum points again after 10 years! What a graceful, elegant, MONSTROSITY of a player.
He was always humble about his God Given "Groove" and the world could learn a lesson from his example. Self-effacing stuff like....:
(i.e. "My Time Sucks" -Modern Drummer).
Could I speak with him, I'd look him
in the eyes and firmly but gently say, "; you have what God gave you--an impeccable sense of rhythm and 'groove' and 'soul''s there whether you choose to think it or not!"

He was a fan, first. Always deferred to Purdie---or Bonham or Gadd-or Keltner. Never speaking too highly of himself, I suppose he chose to let the equipment do the talking, and did it EVER! Few have matched his elegance on Hat...but he could make that thing bark at ya if he desired. Pocket? Even fewer have matched the deep pockets. Happy birthday Jeff. You may not have TRULY known the power in your playing; but God used it to encourage even a keyboard playin' fool like me. That legacy remains, and always will. That gaping hole you left? Is still huge. MAYBE someday, somebody will step through it and a little more of your legacy will rub off! Groove on....
