TOTO, MEANINGS OF THE WORD

In the Swahili language, the word "toto" means "young one". In Latin, it stands for "all-encompassing" Also, the Latin phrase "toto genere" means "on the whole", and "toto caelo" means "diametrically opposite". "TOTO" in Germany or Holland, means placing a bet on soccer games. In Japan, it's the name of that nation's leading toilet bowl manufacturer. Of course, Toto was Dorothy's companion in the 1934 classic movie "The Wizard of Oz". Most people assume this is where the band Toto got its name, but did you know that to the French, a "toto" is a lazy person? Toto was also the name of a clown in the play "A Yankee Circus on Mars", which was once performed at the no-demolished Hippodrome Theatre in New York City.
