PORCARO, JOE, ON JEFF's PASSING AWAY
Joe Porcaro, father of the Porcaro brothers was in a studio when he got the news that Jeff had passed away:
"I was doing Blood in an Blood Out with Bill Conti when Jeff passed away. I was playing tabla when the stage hand came over and tapped me on the shoulder and said I needed to call my daughter immediately. I knew something something was seriously wrong because he wouldn't have come over right in the middle of a take. I thought something happened to my wife, why would my daughter be calling? I went the phone and came back and explained they had just rushed Jeff to the hospital. The contractor said we need one more take on that. We were so close and it was a forty-second cue. So I did one more take jumped in the car. That was crazy.
