"JAKE TO THE BONE"
This instrumental jazzrock-fusion-rock-heavy-metal is one of Toto's favorites, as Steve Lukather recalls during an interview in 1992: "That day Jeff and I arrived first in the studio and started jamming. This was how we came up with the first part of the riff. David joined us and immediately came up with the second part. Still jamming I thought of a guitar melody and we finished the song in half an hour !".
During the 1992 tour this song was introduced by Lukather as being "our new
dance-single, which you definitely can't dance to."
The working title for "Jake to the Bone" was "An Eighth Short". That was what Luke called the song when introducing it at Toto's show in Ventura, CA on 6/20/1991.
