Personal tragedy struck the Toto family when
Huddie Paich, mother of David lost a long battle against a chronic
illness. She was also the 'den mother' of the band,
starting in the early days when Ms. Paich was more than a mother
since she also had overseen much of the business end of the band's
dealings.
The song "Mama" written by David Paich is related to his mother:"I
was going through a depression after my mother passed away and I think I was
inspired by the =>Pink Floyd track 'Money'. It made a big impression
on me and I think back on it a lot."
