HAMMER, JAN
Hammer is a synthesizer- and keyboardwizard who became famous by writing the instrumental theme for the 'Miami Vice' TV-series. Both "Miami Vice Theme" and "Crockett's theme" became huge hits worldwide. He met Steve Lukather in Japan, where Hammer was in Jeff Beck's band and Steve Lukather opened for Jeff Beck. On Lukather's first solo-album 'Lukather'(1989) Jan Hammer joins forces with Steve Stevens and Lukather on the almost psychedelic 'Fall into velvet'. Steve Lukather admires Hammer for his keyboard-wizardry: "That man is incredible on keyboards. Hij plays better guitar on a keyboard than most guitarists. His version of Hendrix' 'Manic Depression' on keyboards is inbelievable !".
