GERMOND, GERALD
Gerald Germond was a R&B bass-player, who recorded in the early days of
Aretha Franklin's career and was
=> Mike Porcaro's teen-idol:
"I remember Aretha's rhythm section with Chuck Rainey and Bernard Purdie when I was 10 or
11 years old that was really awesome. I really liked Gerald better than James
Jamerson although Jamerson is a hero that played on all the old classics.
Gerald had such a fire and it was really what R&B bass playing is all
about but there's so many great players out there. I hear them all the time,
I can't name them but they're really good,but for me I have to say Gerald,
Chuck Rainey and Jamerson."
