"FEELIN' ALRIGHT"
This old Dave Mason song, one of the early Joe Cocker hits, was the tune
that brought David Paich and Jeff Porcaro together for the first time. Their
fathers met during a variety TV show. They found out that both their sons
loved music and since Jeff's band was looking for a keyboardplayer... So
during one of Jeff Porcaro's band's rehearsals, Marty Paich brought David
over to the audition. The band was impressed with David Paich' playing and
he was accepted immediately. David Paich turned to the drummer he heard so
much about and complimented him on his playing. "I'm not Jeff;", replied the
drummer, "that's Jeff". He pointed across the room to a small, long-haired
boy wearing a headband and jeans with an American flag sewn onto
them. David thought "This is too good to be true!"
