DAVIS, MILES
On the => Fahrenheit album, Toto had the honor of playing with the legendary Miles Davis on the instrumental track 'Don't stop me now'. The band got in touch with Miles as he was recording one of => Steve Porcaro's songs. The song was "Human nature", which Steve Porcaro wrote for => Michael Jackson's => Thriller album. Miles Davis' version was released on the album "You're under arrest" in 1985 and was recorded in The Record Plant studio's (New York). Partially as a favor to Jeff Porcaro, who gave Davis one of his pictures, Miles Davis agreed to play on 'Don't Stop Me Now'.Of course we hung around the studio like a bunch of vultures and accidently made him listen to some songs that David and I [Steve Lukather, DH] wrote. he liked them and agreed to play on the record and as a big fan I was thrilled of course. I thought he was very relaxed and funny during the week we spent with him." (Steve Lukather, Backstage, november 1992)
"Miles Davis was cool. He actually asked me to join his band, right after Mike Stern left (NOTE: jazz guitar great). I told him,"You don't want me.
You've just had Stern. You need a real jazz guy," and he said,"No man, I need some real rock and roll," but I had to turn it down because I was
leaving the next day to tour with the band.
